Harts is the epitome of the word “musician”. This man can proficiently navigate several instruments, a creative lyricist, and melodic vocalist. The Offtime EP reminds me of when I first listened to Foo Fighters self-titled album which was also created single handedly by Dave Grohl. Harts has created something that is radical and really illustrates his raw talent. With his tracks being played on Australian, British and American radio this guy will see a fruitful future.

City Calm Down

I first viewed this four-piece back in 2010 when they released their first self-titled EP “City Calm Down”. I was in love at first sight! With such catchy bass guitar hooks and riffs, to the amazing baritone flavoured vocals it was hard not to play their music on repeat!

With their latest EP release in 2012, ‘Movements’ under the I OH YOU label they have produced another absolute gem! With “Pleasure and Consequence” receiving great reviews and consistent play on Triple J radio.

City Calm Down, have an amazing and unique sound that can definitely capture a huge audience, can’t wait to watch these guys live, long in to the future!

Telepathic Teddy Bear – The Course of Empire

‘The Course of Empire’ EP was based off five paintings created by Thomas Cole; one track for each painting. I love this guy already! The development of this EP is so artisan it’s hard not to like. TTB combines both an artistic element with traditional instruments and synth/electro to compose something absolutely majestic.

One huge feature I always seek is an EP/Full Albums’ ability to keep my attention from the first track until the last. ‘The Course of Empire’ completely captures this element. TTB has the ability to enchant the listener with smooth and deep tribal sounds and easy going vocals. My particular favourites were ‘The milk of the Earth’ and ‘The bleeding of mercy’ which both embody sounds and vocal elegance that could easily be heard on radio.

This Melbourne based rock band will be releasing their latest EP ‘Temples’ on July 21st.
They have just released single called ‘St. Marks’, which will give their listeners a real sense of what is to come for the rest of their EP and live performances. A great ambient track with catchy hooks and a killer peak (look out for it 3 mins in!).

They EP launch is on July 27th at the Grace Darling Hotel, Smith St Collingwood. Go and support them!
